Setting up a landing page - Part 1 - Day 2

Hello,

So the first thing I decided to do was choose a web hosting company and set up a temporary landing page for my domain.

I purchased my domain name through GoDaddy.  The whole process will take 5 - 10 minutes.  You can use GoDaddy as your web hosting company but I choose to use a Platon Web Hosting.  Why did I choose Platon?  The competitive pricing?  The reliable service?  Their office is based in the home of the hockey puck (Slovakia)?  While all these are good selling points, I choose them because my coworker recommended them to me and he just so happens to be the owner.

The first thing I did was set the name servers entry in GoDaddy to the name servers of Platon Web Hosting (Name server in case you are wondering what a name server is).  Inside the domain details tab of GoDaddy, click the set name servers link and enter the name servers provided by Platon.  As little as a few minutes to a few hours the domain should be available.  You can tell by visiting your domain and instead of seeing the GoDaddy message you will see the Platon web hosting message.

In part 2 we will set a temporary landing page to display instead of the above screen.
